Meet: Cristina Marulanda, known to her childhood friends as Letica, has enjoyed a lifelong passion for fashion and style. Cristina began her career as a fashion stylist and designer for the largest television network in her native Ecuador and had her own design atelier by her mid-20’s.
In 1994, Cristina was attracted to the mainstream fashion scene in New York and came to learn the trade from the bottom up. Working for several design houses gaining production, sales and merchandising experience in industries from sportswear to formal wear, Cristina rose to become a top producer with a loyal following among buyers and retail boutiques.
In 2007, recognizing the need for an independent multi-line sales resource for buyers, Cristina opened her own sales and fashion consulting company, Dress Me Chic, which became an instant hit with her vast network of buyers, boutiques and retailers. Today, DMC showroom represents an array of top designers in evening wear and bridal fashion for buyers and works with design houses consulting on merchandising, best-selling design trends and management of events and trade shows.
And what about “Letica?” In 2013 after spilling the contents of her cosmetic bag for the umpteenth time during her daily New York City commute. Cristina decided to create her own beauty bag. She wanted a bag that was practical, convenient, organized and most of all….an elegant accessory that could transcend the traditional cosmetic bag to also be used as a purse or clutch.
After months of research and scores of potential designs, the first Letica beauty bag was born. An interchangeable inner beauty bag held in place by hidden magnets and encased in a luxurious twin-zippered outer bag — handmade by skilled artisans in fine leathers and rich fabrics.
To add to Letica’s functionality, each bag has pockets to carry cash, credit cards and cell phone.
“I’m building a signature luxury brand that reflects the multi-faceted lifestyle of today’s woman… Practical, organized, and always beautiful”
