Fanny Mairena, latina woman living and working in New York City as a successful systems support engineer. She has been able to climb the ranks of a male-dominated field by applying lessons of persistence, knowledge-seeking, self-reliance learned from an early age as a child in the Dominican Republic.

Her childhood ambition, besides obtaining a college degree and building a professional technology career, was to become a successful entrepreneur. Today, her entrepreneurial spirit has expanded her interests through e-commerce and social media management. She is a passionate advocate for the Latina community.  She enjoys lifting up and mentoring young Latina women though her online community platform: Latinas en New York (LENY). A digital community support platform aiming to create opportunities that support small business owners & Latinas entrepreneurs living in New York City tri-state area (NY, NJ, CT) and abroad. LENY’s mission is to help cultivate a community, motivate, empower and connect women with business and career resources for personal and professional growth.  She has collaborated with WE NYC providing free tools and learning opportunities to help Latina women succeed in their business and entrepreneurship journey.  LENY has also been featured by WE NYC as a local resource for business owners.
She is also an active member of Latinas Think Big,Today’s Inspired Latina & Women’s Prosperity Network committee member NYC chapter.

Her passion and dedication to the Latina community carries on. She is committed to helping her community, this has led her to become a committee member and contributing author of upcoming Today’s Inspired Latina Book Volume II. Today’s Inspired Latina — a book of inspirational life stories of success in the face of adversity. Benefitting the Fig Factor Foundation, a non-profit organization which is focused on helping young women become future leaders. .

Her successful life journey which is presented on Today’s Inspired Latina book series, is constantly evolving open to help and provide innovative opportunities for Latina women — as a minority and a woman (twice blessed!) she faced many challenges–or, better still, opportunities—she engage her vision at every opportunities she is presented with.  The success that came her way motivated her even more.  She is an amazing mother of three wonderful children, she enjoys a good  tennis match and in her spare time Fanny loves to play tennis on the weekend.  You can get her full story here
